Facile synthesis of 1-(H/substituted)-3-aryl-4H-5H-6-arylimino-1,2,4,5-tetrazines(VI) have been obtained by the basification of 1-(H/substituted)-3-aryl-4H-5H-6-arylimino-1,2,4,5-tetrazines hydrochlorides(V). The later were synthesized by the interaction of N-isocynodichloride and 1-(H/substituted)-3-aryl-dihydro-formazan(III), which were prepared initially by the condensation of aryl acid hydrazide(I) and hydrazine hydrate or substituted hydrazines(II). Compound (VI) on benzoylation with 10% sodium hydrochloride and benzoyl chloride in a 1:1 ratio afforded benzoyl derivatives (VII). The structures of all these synthesized compounds were established on the basis of their chemical transformation, element analysis, equivalent weight determination, IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectral studies. The title compounds were assayed for both antifungal and antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
