This paper highlights the impact of folksonomy terms that can increase information retrieval efficiency in a subject device. In this paper, we examined a relationship between folksonomy and taxonomy terms. We have conducted the research work with taken 680 articles from three reputed journals – ALIS ( Annals of Library and Information Studies), SJIM ( SRELS Journal of Information Management) and DJLIT ( DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology) in the period 2015-2019. We have conducted three similarity measurements between SJIM and ALIS, SJIM and DJLIT, and ALIS and DJLIT by using cosine similarity measurement through a machine learning model in Python script. The result of similarity measurement is – 0.70011539 (70%) of SJIM vs ALIS; 0.76755916 (76%) of SJIM vs DJLIT; 0.822773916 (82%) of ALIS vs DJLIT. The three measurements depict that most folksonomy terms are matched with taxonomy terms. In that case, the efficiency of retrieval of the subject device must be increased, and users get the benefits of this hybrid subject device.
