Abstract

In recent years, a silent but persistent threat has been growing—sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that challenge not only the health of individuals but also the resilience of public health systems globally. Among these, gonorrhoea, often colloquially referred to as “The Clap,” has re-emerged as a particularly troubling adversary. Caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, gonorrhoea is more than just a clinical concern; it is a disease that reflects deeper social, economic, and infrastructural gaps.
