Studies of the month of conception or season of conception can provide clues about several etiologies. We investigated whether dominant doshas of certain months or seasons of conception are associated with increased risk of prakriti determination, for which etiology is particularly ambiguous. A pilot study for retrospective cohort study was performed on fifty healthy volunteers reflecting all the procedures of the main study and validates the feasibility of the study by assessing the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the participants. Ayurveda has explained three types of doshas namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The dominant doshas at the time of fertilization help in the determination of prakriti that control the physique, physiology and psychology of the individuals. The Month of conception was calculated from the date of birth by subtracting nine months and seven days and seasonal dominance of doshas was identified and the seasonal dominance of prakriti was calculated. The results of the pilot study show Month of conception based on ovulation date exposure of Kapha Dosha and vata dosha has a significant impact on Prakriti formation. Month of conception based on LMP exposure of vata, pitta and Kapha Dosha has a significant impact on Prakriti formation. This pilot study shows, the month of conception has a potential effect on prakriti determination among healthy individuals which requires confirmation by a detailed study.
