How Disability Can Shape Political And Social Identity In Albania

Many political and social issues arising from disability in Albania, is a phenomena that the country is facing today. Disabled people and disability movements are challenging the content of public political, economic, and social policies. Disability is a political issue, but it is linked to poverty and social exclusion. It brings consequences for individuals in access to services, achievement at the educational level, participation in the labor force, and consumption. Political systems can influence the participation of disabled people not only in the political arena but also in all matters of society.
The article aims to analyze the concept of disability through the models of disability rights as a political and social movement in Albania. The article's findings suggest empowering the social inclusion of disabled people is a challenge for Albanian institutions by reshaping social protection, economic support, and educational programs for them.
