Abstract

The Quantitative evaluative approach, pre test post test control group design was done, Non Probability convenient sampling technique is used to select 68 Diabetic foot ulcer patients admitted in surgery ABC wards of tertiary care hospital with the objective to evaluate the effectiveness of Sodium Phenytoin dressing among patients with Diabetic foot ulcer patients. Lydia Hall core, care, cure model was implemented as conceptual frame work. Bates and Jenson wound assessment tool was used to evaluate the wound healing among the Diabetic foot ulcer patients. Pretest was conducted among both experimental and Non experimental group on patients with Diabetic foot ulcer. For experimental group Sodium Phenytoin dressing was done for 3 weeks later post test was conducted. There is a significant p-Value of 0.0001 for the mean difference between the first and second weeks, which is 20.4 and for second weeks, which is 20.2. Third week mean variation in the control and experimental group is 17.8 and a significant p value of less than 0.05. Thus, the findings indicate a gradual decrease in the mean difference throughout course of the following weeks. Therefore treating Diabetic foot ulcer patients with Topical Sodium Phenytoin dressing accelerates their level of wound healing. The out come indicates that treating Diabetic foot ulcer patients with Topical Phenytoin dressing improves their wound healing score
