EFFECT OF PROTEIN-MALNUTRITION ON THE AORTIC VASCULAR WALL IN RATS

Abstract

The effect of protein-deficiency on the morphology of the vascular wall 
was studied in 32 male albino rats. Morphological difference in the 
aortic wall of rats maintained on normal and malnourished diets were 
seen. These changes include endothelia erosion and wasting of the 
media and adventitia layers. This study tends to give an aetiologic role 
for diet, especially protein deficiency, in the pathogenesis of certain 
arterial disorders.
